Simone de Martini was a leading painter of the Sienese school in Italy,
who lived c. 1280-1344.

The Fresco of Guidoriccio da Fogliano
shows a complete military camp, including a variety of sizes and shapes
of shelters.

St. Martin Renounces his Weapons depicts a
scene from the life of St. Martin in which he (until that point a military
man in the Roman army) refuses to take arms against a pagan army,
preferring to convert them instead. The picture shows a number of
circular tents.
